The news:
Well, we visited P. in the Bellevue E.R.

L. and her husband, D., were there too. It looks like somebody whackedhim with an aluminum skull stick in the forehead. A huge purple welt withblood and a swollen-shut black left eye. Concussion, plus blood all overthe inside of skull, some open wounded bleeding in the back of the head. Also possibility of broken left wrist, they put a cast on it.
Doesn't look good, looks very expensive. No insurance. Hopefully he won't have seizures, they were debating whether to give him some anti-seizuremeds. They're keeping him under observation for 24 more hours, releasinghim on Saturday.
We were celebrating at the Abby. After we had left it happened and he has no memory of how it happened or how he got to the hospital, and no otherfriends were with him. He woke up today at 4 pm in the Woodhul,l BrooklynE.R., then they transferred him to Manhattan.
What a lousy New Years for him, prayers and thoughts are welcome.

All I had to deal with upon waking was a migraine plus horrible taste in mouth.
